Frequently Asked Questions

What is a good collar for training?

We have been asked on a number of occasions if our dog collars and dog leashes are a good choice for training a dog.

First let me say, we believe that dog training classes are a great idea for you and your dog. And we know that there are so many different collars, harnesses, head halters, and other devices out there that may be good choices when you take your dog to classes. As dog trainers, we use all kinds of different equipment depending on the dog and the situation. Your instructor can help you with the best choices.

With that said, there is one trick that I try to pass on to all my students. Try using different equipment for different purposes. I always have my Yellow Snow leash and collar available for our daily walks in the woods or along quiet roads where my dog is allowed to sniff, have more freedom, and enjoy the walk.

What is the difference between reflective and glow in the dark?

We are currently offering reflective patterns. We do not offer glow-in-the-dark products. Reflective dog collars and leashes are a great option and our customers have been very pleased with them. But don’t be confused about the difference between reflective and glow-in-the-dark.

Products that glow-in-the-dark will glow with no need for any outside light source. Reflective dog collars and leashes are made with materials that light bounces off of or “reflects” off of. What you see is a glow or flash of light “reflecting” off the material. In order to have that happen there has to be a light source like car headlights, a spotlight or a flashlight.

Do your products have a hands-free option?

Yes! Several years ago we had someone ask us if we could make a leash that would have a handle that fit around their waist. That got us thinking.

Instead of creating a special leash for hands-free walking, why not produce an adjustable piece that clips right into the handle to extend the size.

Our Handle Extender has become a popular addition and makes hands-free walking possible without buying a special leash for just that and without changing the structure of your current Yellow Snow leash.

Why should I have more than one leash?

I have always had more than one leash. Even before I made leashes, I found it nice to have a spare dog leash in the car. And depending on the size or setup of your house, it can be useful to have a leash by the front door and one by the back door. I keep older leashes in the garage for quick access when I am outside and for rainy or muddy dog walks. And of course it’s always nice to have a spare in case you misplace one. I love to get my girl all dressed up and matching when I go into town or to class, so I cycle down older products for everyday training and walking.

Should I have different leashes for different jobs?

Yes! There are so many different types of dog leashes on the market today. It’s hard to pick just one. And in fact, I don’t pick just one. I use different leashes for different jobs.

Our leashes are great for dog walks and casual trips to your children’s ball game or your friend's BBQ. They are great for a walk to the local swimming hole or picnic in the park. They provide the features you need for a good everyday leash.

Different versions of our Sports Doggie Lead provide added features to make life a little easier depending on your dog walking needs.

Our Heeling Lead is great for walks in town or along the street where you want more control and need to keep your dog closer. Our Super Bungee Lead gives you a little shock-absorbing feature that will muffle the hit of a strong jerk for both you and your dog.

Our ¾” wide leashes are lighter in weight and good for general everyday use and for training. They are just as strong, but lighter in weight and easy on your hands if your training or walking style has made you the kind of person that handles all parts of the leash while working with your dog.

Can I wash my collar and leash?

Yes! Our products are machine washable. Wash in cold water and air dry. For the best results, wash your dogs’ collar regularly to keep it from getting to the point of no return!

How do I return my collar or leash?
